Volunteer Board and Committee Work
Do you have an interest in being a part of a volunteer Board of Directors?
Email Target’s Business Manager and she will send you a package of materials if you are interested in a role with the Target Board.
The duties of Target Directors are to:
- Attend Board Meetings having read the minutes of the previous meeting and any reports from the Business Manager, Treasurer, and Standing Committee Chairs (sent out by email on the Friday prior to the Monday meeting);
- At Board Meetings, provide points of view on Target initiatives and programs; and
- Have an interest in becoming involved in Target initiatives and programs in capacities where you have expertise.
The Board is required to meet 8 times during the year, including the AGM and the Executive Committee formation meeting, which immediately follows the AGM and is on the same evening of the AGM. The 6 other meetings are usually on the Monday nearest the end of the month, generally in September, October, November, January, February, and March or April.
In addition to an Executive Committee, the Target Board has working committees for Membership, Communications, Fundraising, and Project Development. These committees are made up of a chair or pair of co-chairs from the Board of Directors and members from Target and individuals from the community who have the skills and energy to volunteer with the working committee of their choosing.
To be a Target Board member, you first need to become a Target Member and the cost is $20/year.
